Maple is a great choice of wood for any live edge work of art. Native to Northeastern United States, this species is common in the Columbus, Ohio, area, making it easy for Urbn Timber to source. Live edge maple wood slabs make stunning statement pieces with a natural and classic look.
Maple’s naturally light color creates a beautiful, warm glow that will lighten up the space around it. The grain of this wood is usually straight and has an even texture. Maple wood slabs are easy to work with and make great pieces of furniture. Urbn Timber works with Columbus arborists to locally source our maple logs, all of which have dropped due to sustainable causes. The logs are brought to our lumber yard, where they are sawn into live edge wood slabs. Then, the maple slabs are air-dried for at least six months, and kiln-dried for another two months. Each maple wood slab is dried to a single-digit moisture content, ensuring stability. They are fresh-cut to the specified design, and are finally ready to be handed off to the artist and turned into the final product.
